Donna Louise HammondSept. 10, 1917 to May 27, 2006 Donna Louise Hitchcock Hammond was born in 1917 in the little town of Bainbridge, N.Y. Her beloved mother died of diphtheria when Donna was 10 years of age. She graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1934 at the age of 16. She received a bachelor's degree in music in 1938, majoring in organ and choir directing. Members of her immediate family include her husband, Edmund Berkeley Hammond; and her son, John Elwyn Hammond and his wife, Ann. She and her husband have been residents of Huntsville since 1965. Donna first became a Christian as a Northern Baptist in her teens. Then, early in her married life she and her husband jointed the Presbyterian Church and became active church members. She has served as a deacon, an elder and as a member of the Council of Presbytery. Also, for many years she taught a weekly Bible class for women. In the last 10 years she was on the Internet publishing prayers. Donna had a very out-going personality and she thoroughly enjoyed passing God's love on to others. In her latter years she published a small book of daily prayers to assist other Christians in organizing their prayer life. It was her sincere hope that these prayers would bring many Christians into a more meaningful relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. A memorial service will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday with a reception to follow. * * * * * * *
